Why hello there!
It’s 2025, a new year, new plans.
2024 was a year of firsts for the community and myself. We tried new things and broke new ground. We rebranded to VersusAI and launched new episodes of bits-of-code probots showcased some of its best bot performances to date.
More Projects
With a new year comes the question: where do we want to go next? The answer is, to the moon . But really, I want us to focus on building bigger and better AI Gamings projects together.
2024 showed us what we can achieve together, and I believe 2025 is the year we take it even further. To that end, I’ve finished building our forum. This forum will serve as the long-term home for our community’s work—a place to share ideas, document our progress, and create a lasting library of knowledge for those who are coming up behind us.
My vision for VersusAI is to evolve into a truly project-focused AI gaming community. A community where we’re not just talking about AI but actively pushing the boundaries of what it can do. Together, we’ll tackle projects that challenge us, excite us, and grow our skills. Whether it’s contributing to ambitious bots, working on tools, honing your craft with support from others, or simply gaining hands-on experience, this will be the place to make it happen.
Building Events
A year of postbots has taught me that coming together to share our work is a fantastic way to learn from each other and spark ideas for our own projects. This year there are some changes and improvements I want to work on
- Live Stream - sharing the project learnings with the greater VersusAI community
- Add guidelines and time limits to presentations - It helps everyone to have some guardrails, like a TEDtalk bot for making AI and without the same pressure
- Add Bot-A-thon or Seasonal Challenge - Ever since I did my episode on trying to hit 5:46 with my bot I realised that I never had to stretch more than when I was hit with the constraints than that. I loved that and I want to do something similar community wide
Telling Better Stories
I’ve thought about this a lot: I want to get better at telling the stories of how we build some of the greatest AIs and what it takes to get there. I think ProBots is the best showcase of the end result but what goes into them? What problems are solved to make the Bot work the way it does? That’s the challenge I want to explore on our Youtube channel.
I’m incredibly proud of how far our production of ProBots has come. The team has truly gone above and beyond to make it look and feel top-tier. Now, the challenge is how we tell the story of the bot authors, their bots, and the tournament itself. How do we highlight those moments when a snipe build takes center stage? How do we showcase the unique elements of each bot and make them truly stand out? Most importantly, how do we show our fans the complexity of what they’re watching—the gap between what seems simple for a human but is incredibly hard for an AI to achieve on screen?
Our shows will remain cornerstones of what we do. But more than just edutainment, I want them to be launchpads for inspiration, knowledge sharing, and even more incredible AI projects. Projects is a space where all that will live.
So, here’s to making 2025 the year we turn ambition into action and ideas into innovations. Let’s build something awesome, together.
